Yamaha just confirmed the new design for the 2019 Yamaha YZF-R3 by filling design images for the refreshed R3. The new design seems inspired by the bigger R series bikes. Likewise the side profile looked like the R6. Also a few months back images of the R25 with the new design leaked but those were not clear enough to spot the changes
Hence with these new images, the design is much more clear. Yamaha registered the design with patent offices in Turkey and Australia on August 28.
We can see that the front is redesigned completely and looks more in line with the new Yamaha design philosophy. The lights are a bit bigger than the sleek lights used in the R6. As seen the younger sibling R15 V3 air intake is between the headlights.
Front fairing sits a bit lower than the ongoing model. Giving it more aerodynamic efficiency. The windscreen also seems to be a bit taller. The side profile features much cleaner and sleek lines. The fuel tank has new and better design for the knees. However, the rear end seems to be almost similar to the current generation.
There’s no word on engine specs. It’s hard to figure out the change with the images so we have to wait a bit longer until Yamaha puts a word out. According to the California Air Resources Board has Yamaha already certified the 2019 YZF-R3, showing no changes to the 321cc engine’s emissions.
As of now the Engine which is 320.6cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, in-line 2-cylinder, DOHC, 4-valve fuel-injected generates a maximum power output of 42ps at 10,750 rpm and 29.6Nm of maximum torque at 9,000 rpm.
We expect Yamaha to launch the new 2019 YZF-R3 in upcoming motorcycle shows, AIMExpo or at EICMA coming in November. After the launch can soon be made available in India. Yamaha sells YZF-R3 in India at a price of 3.49 lakhs ex-showroom. It rivals KTM RC390, Kawasaki Ninja 300, Benelli 302R and TVS Apache RR 310.
