Recently the Japanese automaker, Yamaha Motor India has released a new bike , called the Yamaha FZ25 at a surprising rate. It is a diamond framed,quarter liter, naked body-type bike with the official tagline of New Age Macho or Ride the force within. The previous models of FZ, namely, the FZ 16, is the basis on which, the basic framework of the overall FZ25 was built. The customers has an option to choose between Knight Black, Ballistic Blue and Warrior White. The bike has a caster angle of 24 degrees, steering angle of 37 degrees and a trail of 98 mm.
The Yamaha FZ25 runs on a 249 cc, fuel injected, single cylinder, air cooled, four stroke, SOHC, 2 valve, blue core engine. The bike is capable of producing 20.69 BHP power at 8000 rpm and 20 Nm torque at 6000 rpm. Its emission standard is BS4 and has a wet sump lubrication. The compression ratio of the FZ25 is 9.8:1. The spark plug is of the model type DR8EA. The bike runs on petrol. The Yamaha bike posses a constant mesh gearbox with 5 gears. The clutch is multi disc wet type. The gear ratios are 2.571 (36/14) , 1.684 (32/19) , 1.273 (28/22) , 1.040 (26/25) and 0.852 (23/27) respectively for the five gears. The primary and secondary reduction ratios are respectively, 3.083 (74/24) and 3.067 (46/15).
The Yamaha FZ25 has a length of 2015 mm, a width of 770 mm and a height of 1075 mm. The ground clearance is 160 mm and the seat height is 795 mm along with a wheel base of 1360 mm. The kerb weight of the bike is 148 kgs with a fuel tank capacity of 14 liters and oil tank capacity of 1.55 liters. The bike has a battery type of ETZ-7 with a capacity of 6aH and voltage of 12 volts. The head and tail lights are LED ones with AHO (Automatic Headlight On) facility. The seats are guarded by slip-resistant covers. The tops speed of the bike is 134 kmph and gives a mileage of 43 kmpl.
The brake in the front is 282 mm hydraulic single disc with a 2 pot caliper whereas the one at the back is 220 mm hydraulic single disc with a single pot caliper. The bike doesn’t have an ABS. The front suspension is done by telescopic forks with a rear suspension of MonoShock (Swingram, Monocross) type.The bike posses tubeless tyres and alloy wheels. The front tyre specifications are 100/80-17 M/C 52 P and the rear tyre specifications are 140/70-17 M/C 66 S. The front and rear wheel travels are 130 mm and 120 mm respectively.
The Yamaha FZ25 has a price tag of Rs. 1,19,335 (ex-showroom Delhi) which is quite surprising for a bike with such features. The TVS Apache RTR and Bajaj Pulsar RS200 are its potential rivals. The bike is almost Rs. 50000 cheaper than other quarter liter bikes.
