The Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Plug-In Hybrid version, available in petrol variant, has been launched in India.
The 7 seater car draws power from a 2.0-litre, direct injection, four-cylinder petrol engine that is capable of 81bhp power and 240Nm of torque. Also there is the electric motor which generates 398bhp of maximum power and 640Nm of peak torque. An eight speed automatic transmission system is also mated along. The car covers upto 32 kms in a single charge and takes 5.6 seconds to go from 0-100 kmph. In combined mode the car can measure up a distance of 25 kms. The fuel tank capacity is 50 liters. A 110V or a 240V power outlet is used for charging the car, which takes 12 hours and 6 hours respectively.
The four wheeler has 6 driving modes namely, Save, Pure, Hybrid, Power, All-Wheel Drive and Off-Road. The interior features include four-zone climate control, Bowers and Wilkins entertainment system with 19-speakers, panoramic sunroof, adaptive air suspension, head-up display, Nappa leather seats with ventilation. The safety features are quite impressive too, seven airbags, collision avoidance, radar-based adaptive cruise control, city braking system and much more.
The dimensions of the SUV isn’t any different from the other versions, at length 4950 mm, width 2140 mm, and height 1776 mm. The wheelbase is 2984 mm and the ground clearance is 238 mm. The boot space is 530 liter and the curb weight is 2394 kgs. The car uses discs for braking and air suspension system.
The hybrid will compete against the Mercedes-Benz GLS 400 4Matic, BMW X6 35i M Sport and even the Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 4Matic. The car is priced at Rs. 96.65 (ex showroom Delhi) lakhs which is Rs 34 lakhs less than the Excellence which is priced at Rs. 1.31 crore (ex showroom Delhi). The company has also decided to set up charging stations, where it would take 2.5 hours for the car to get completely charged.
