Lets congratulate Volvo for it is going to be the first manufacturer to roll out a plug-in hybrid in the form of XC90 which will also be the one to be locally assembled at the Bengaluru Plant of the company, starting somewhere at the end of next year.
Next year, more cars of the range of the plug-in hybrids are going to be launched in the next three years. It seems like Volvo is going to plan electrification of the automobile market as their next goal. Complete phase-out of combustion engine only models will finally find a smoother path to make an appearance in the market.
Volvo is a part of the #BreatheFree movement. It has recently initiated some activities to create general awareness about the amount of PM 2.5 levels in the atmosphere and how it is harmful with the help of its automobiles. This movement saw active participation from schools in the capital and dealerships throughout the map, with a little help from the ASSOCHAM. DIY clean air filter kit was made and distributed throughout under priviledged areas on Children’s day.
Charles Frump ,Managing Director, Volvo Car India ushered a few quick words, “The localisation of plug-in hybrids marks the future of electrification for us. Our customers are increasingly becoming aware about the rise in pollution levels and degrading environment. As a responsible luxury car company, we believe electrification is the future. However, till the time we have a supporting infrastructure, plug-in hybrids offer the intermediate solution.” Going further he said, “The #BreatheFree initiative provides us the impetus to take the lead in generating awareness about the air quality. I am extremely pleased at the performance of the initiative and we are looking at taking this to the next level in the future.”
Volvo cars might one day be successful in doing away with the conventional engines and bring in battery operated four wheelers throughout the nation. In fact it is planning on bringing up some electric propulsion in its models from the upcoming year, therefore the Volvos from next year will all be electrified.
