2018 Volvo S60 is unveiled at the inauguration of the new Ridgeville plant in South Carolina, USA. This 1.1 billion dollars invested plant is the only manufacturer of the Volvo S60 for the world and is located 40 miles from Charleston.
The midsize sedan has quite a few variants, the T5 front driven one runs on a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine capable of producing 250 hp. There is also the all wheel driven T6 with supercharged and turbocharged 2.0 liter engine. Two plug in hybrids are also offered , which comes with T8 Twin Engine AWD plug-in with supercharged and turbocharged engine giving a 400 hp power output. They might introduce a mild hybrid of 48 Volts the next year. The S60 won’t have a diesel variant, in accordance to their goal of producing 1 million pure EVs.
T5 models are priced between $36,795 and $43,895, and T6 models will be ranged from $41,295. The T8, will come with a tag ranging between $55,395 and $56,395. Other than the Polestar Engineered version, all models of the S60 will be available for the customers, which will be available for order on June 28. The price of the Polestar engineered version is still not known, it will be announced on the aforementioned date.
The SPA (Scalable Product Architecture) designed sedan comes with features like, City Safety with Autobrake, Optional Pilot Assist which will steer, brake, and accelerate up to about 80 mph, Run-off Road Mitigation, Oncoming Lane Mitigation,as well as optional Cross Traffic Alert with Autobrake. Volvo’s Sensus Connect infotainment system is compatible with Apple CarPlay, android Auto and 4G. This system is found in all of the Volvo’s new models.
The five seater car has a cargo capacity if 11.6 cu ft and a fuel capacity of 14.5 gallons. The car weighs 3657 lbs. The wheelbase is 113.1 inches. The S60 has dimensions, 55.6 inches in height, 187.4 inches in length and 80.3 inches in width.
