Volkswagen has recently unwrapped the all-new Passat for China. The vehicle has got a most stylish appearance which grabs all the eyes. The modern design is hugely based on the Arteon fastback. Passat, a big sedan adopts VW’s prevailing concept and simplistic design elements. The overall look is distinct from the European variant. Hence, we assume that the new variant is also made for the American market.
The all-new Passat is equipped with a somewhat smaller rear door and a simplistic yet extravagance cabin. The new vehicle is developed in the MQB architecture platform instead of the VW Group’s “B” platform. The same platform is adopted for the development of the European variant of Passat. The China model is wider and taller with a dimension of 4,933 mm longer, 1,836 mm wider and 1,469 mm taller. The wheelbase remains at 2,871 mm which is 80 mm more than the European variant.
From the front chassis, the China-specs variant looks like a mid-priced version of Arteon. It has outfitted with a radiator grille based on Arteon highlighted with new sleek and dashing headlights. From the side portion, the sedan looks sporty with a slim glossy profile. The back profile is a bit raised which makes it bold with a VW badge on centre. It gets chrome assents on the wheels and rear lines.
The China-spec variant is powered by a confined 2,0-litre TSI motor generating only 137 kW or 162 kW that highly hang on derivative. The new model has also got a plug-in hybrid variant on offer. The model is just revealed in China and a facelifted version of European model is already on its way. The facelift variant is expected to launch in Europe this year. In India, the Passat launch is still a question like we had for the 2019 Polo. The company has not revealed their plans for introducing the new model in the Indian market yet.
