Before the official debut in Brazil next year, the German automaker, Volkswagen has released a teaser video of its all-new Nivus. The upcoming subcompact SUV will be soon revealed globally. At the first stage, the new model will be launched only for Brazilian enthusiasts and after that for the European market. The upcoming launch will be a small car segment which was known as T-Sport. It will be positioned below the T-Cross after the official launch.
The upcoming Nivus is inspired by Polo although, it gets some distinct elements which make it appear different from the existing model. The company has not revealed much about the upcoming model. However, the 25-second video gives us an exterior glimpse of the car. According to the teaser, the new model gets silhouette flaunted with sweptback headlamps. It is equipped with LED DRLs (daytime running lights) and angular fog lamps.
Volkswagen Nivus looks sleek and sportier from the front with a large lower intake. It has sleek slanted roofline with roof rails, rear spoiler and wraparound LED taillights. The ‘Urban Coupe’ has been developed on the VW Group’s MQB A0 platform same employed for the existing VW Polo hatchback. It will be a fascinating model which excels in both appearance and performance. It will feature 2560mm wheelbase which is 90mm shorter than T-Cross.
As said by the carmaker, the upcoming crossover has “sportiness with a high driving position”. The specifications remain hidden as there is no official announcement regarding its launch. However, the Brazilian-spec Volkswagen Nivus is expected to be powered by a 1.0L TSI turbocharged petrol engine which is capable of making 126bhp of power. The motor can be combined with a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. It will be a front-wheel-drive machine.
Volkswagen will introduce the upcoming Nivus in Brazil next year. The company has not revealed there plans to bring this crossover beauty in the Indian market. However, a mid-size India-specs T-Cross SUV developed on MQB platform, named MQB A0 IN is expected to be showcased soon. The company can debut this model at Auto Expo next year and can be launched in the last month of 2020. The carmaker can also showcase Tiguan AllSpace and Volkswagen T-Roc at the event.
