Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza AMT 2018 Seen Before Launch

Maruti Vitara Brezza – the car that created a storm in the compact SUV segment, though not the first player. It quickly went on to become the best selling car it its segment. However, of late the competition is raising the bars and making life a little difficult for the Vitara Brezza. Cases in point – the arrival Mahindra’s XUV 300 and Hyundai’s Venue. Hyundai’s Venue gathered over 50,000 bookings in a very short time. The Venue also went on to beat the Vitara Brezza to take the top spot by selling about 9,585 units in July 2019. The XUV 300 is also racking up numbers and took the second spot only next to Venue.

These two tough competitions – combined with the general slowdown of the automobile sector left Maruti in rough waters. To sail around these rough waters and to stay afloat, Maruti is offering huge discounts on the Vitara Brezza. The details are as follows.

Engine swap on the cards?

The Vitara Brezza draws power from the 1.3L, 4 cylinder diesel engine that produces about 90 hp and 200 Nm. The gear box is either a 5 speed manual or a 5 speed AMT. With the preference for petrol motors on the rise, we can expect Maruti to give the 1.5L K15 petrol engine on the Vitara Brezza. The engine made its debut on the Ciaz in August 2018 and in the face lifted Ertiga earlier this year. The engine was recently updated to meet the BS VI norms and made it’s debut in the Maruti XL6. It is good for a 102 hp and 138 Nm. With the BS VI norms set to kick in from April 2020, we can expect the new engine under Vitara Brezza’s hood soon.
