Finally it’s here! The diesel variant of the Hyundai Verna has been launched. The 1.4 litre diesel variant is available in E and EX versions whereas the 1.6 litre has come up with two new ones.
The 1.4 litre E trim bears a price tag of Rs. 9.29 lakhs followed by the EX at Rs. 9.99 lakhs (ex showroom Delhi). The 1.6 litre petrol automatic has surprised us with a new SX+ trim and the SX(O) has found its place in the list of diesel trims.
The Verna diesel version runs on a 1.4 litre engine that is capable of providing a power output of 89bhp and a torque of 220Nm. The transmission system is handled by a six speed manual gear box. The 1.4 litre diesel engine have also been introduced in the elite i20 and the i20 active. The Verna was initially launched back in 2017 with 1.6 litre petrol and diesel engines.
The SX(O) AT diesel is priced at Rs. 13.99 lakhs which is nearly 2.5 lakhs more than the SX+ AT petrol model which is priced at RS. 11.52 lakhs. Both of the trims have some eye-catchy additional features. Projector headlamps with LED DRLs, LED taillight cluster, 16inch alloy wheels, electrically fold-able ORVMs, 7inch infotainment system, engine start/stop button, wireless charging, leather wrapped steering wheel and gear knob are some of the features the petrol SX+ AT trim of the Verna has to offer. Adjustable rear seat head rests, ventilated leather seats, telescopic steering and six air bags are the newly installed features on the SX(O) AT diesel. There are no changes in the mechanical components and equipment.
As promised by Hyundai earlier, they have launched the diesel options for their would be customers. But this car will still have to beat the likes of Maruti Ciaz, Honda City, Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid.
