Urbanite, Bajaj Auto’s Electric Vehicle Brand To Launch In 6-9 Months

Bajaj Auto has finally confirmed its first step in the production of EV’s in India. The good news is that the first electric vehicle of Bajaj can be a scooter. The company will soon commence a new brand named, Urbanite which will be specialized for the production of EV’s. The first scooter of Bajaj will be an electric version which will be the next big thing in the two-wheeler market.

The Urbanite models are expected to be launched by the starting of the next fiscal. The major announcement was made at the introduction of the brand campaign termed “World’s Favourite Indian”. Bajaj Auto has previously promised to come up with a premium and EV range in future and it is finally confirmed.

Some reports also claim that the new brand will be officially revealed in the next 6-9 months, this year. The company will slowly develop the brand which will begin with the manufacturing of a superior electric scooter. The company will not stop after the production of an electric scooter. The Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, Rajiv Bajaj has said that the response of the EV in the Indian market will decide the further production of battery-powered models.

Bajaj Auto is the third largest two-wheeler maker in India and it will be exciting to see its new products in the EV range. Some reports also claim that the company can also introduce an electric bike in the country first which will rival against Tork T6X electric two-wheeler. Automotive makers like TVS, Hero and Suzuki are already working to develop an electric scooter in the country.

According to earlier reports, the Pune-based automotive manufacturer is currently struggling on an all-electric quadricycle. This is a new version of its passenger three-wheeler which is called Qute. It is also scheduled to be introduced in later years. At present, the four-wheeler version was launched in some states which runs on a petrol motor. The company has claimed that the quadricycle will be soon introduced in a few more states in the coming months.
