The all new Tata Harrier SUV is scheduled to be launched on January 23, 2019. However, the upcoming Harrier SUV has been spotted testing for the first time in Europe in the city of Italy named Turin. Apart from UK and Pune, Tata Motors has its design studio in Turin. The Tata’s IMPACT design language, based on which the upcoming Harrier SUV is built is a result of the collaboration of the three design studios of the manufacturer in Pune, UK and Turin.
The upcoming Harrier SUV is going to be a five seater SUV. Tata claims that the Harrier is an SUV unlike no other. From safety to driving dynamics, to passenger comfort – Tata has said that the Harrier is above the rest of the competition in every way. The Harrier will be based on the Land Rover D8 platform which shares its underpinnings with the previous generation Discovery. The upcoming Harrier SUV will be manufactured at the company’s facility located in Pune, India.
The upcoming Harrier SUV is powered by the 2.0 litre diesel engine which is seen on the diesel powered variants of the Jeep Compass. The 2.0 litre unit churns out a power of 140 PS and produces a peak torque of 350 Nm. A six speed manual transmission will get matted to the engine along with two wheel drive. However, the automated transmission option with four wheel drive will be offered at a later date.
A media report from Netherlands read that the upcoming Harrier SUV will be launched in the countries of Europe including UK, Italy, France and so on followed by its India launch. The media report further added that the Tata Harrier SUV will be exported to Europe as CBU. Therefore, the report clearly hinted at Tata Motors reentry to the auto markets of Europe. However, Tata motors had later reported that they have not announced anything regarding export or launch of the all new Harrier SUV in Europe. If launched in Europe, the upcoming Tata Harrier SUV could compete on the likes of the Jeep Compass.
