Bengaluru based startup Ultraviolette Automotive launches its first motorcycle – the Ultraviolette F77. The green mobility company backed by TVS Motors is offering a great package at an extremely attractive price. The F77 also looks like it is straight from the future. You can pre-book the motorcycle right now and it will cost Rs 3 lakh to Rs 3.25 lakhs, on-road (Bangalore). In the first phase, it will only be sold in Bangalore due to logistics. However, the company plans to expand to other cities in the future. The F77 is available in three variants – Lightning, Shadow, and Laser. Deliveries are scheduled to begin at the end of 2020.
Ultraviolette F77 – packs a serious punch
The Ultraviolette F77 packs a serious punch. It produces power equivalent to 33.5 hp. If this doesn’t look like a lot, take a look at the torque. It produces a whopping 90Nm of peak torque. This is now in the superbike territory. This lets the F77 accelerate really quickly but will have a slightly lower top speed. Also, the motorcycle weighs just 158kgs. 0-60kmph comes in at just 2.9 seconds and 0-100kmph in 7.2 seconds. It also comes with three power modes – Eco, Sport, and Insane. It can provide some serious competition to the KTM 790 Duke which costs almost 3-4 times more.
Powering the motor are 3 Li-on batteries with a capacity of 4.2kWh. Ultraviolette claims a range of 130-150kms with a full charge. This pretty high for an electric motorcycle. Also, the batteries can charge up to 80% in 3 hours and a full charge takes about 5 hours. There is also a fast-charging option that can completely charge the battery in just 1.5 hours. The battery packs are also modular and can be swapped easily.
Is it really from the future?
The Ultraviolette F77 also has an extremely futuristic and modern design. The fairings somewhat resemble the Ducati Diavel. It also gets low clip-on handlebars. The motorcycle sits on a steel trellis frame with an aluminium bulkhead. It features USD forks up front and gas-charged preload adjustable shock absorber at the rear. We can also see a 320mm front disc and a 230mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS. It also gets steel-braided brake lines and chunky 110/70 R17 (front) and 150/60 R17(rear) tires.
The F77 also gets a TFT display for the instrument cluster which can also connect to a smartphone. It provides a plethora of information and also has a ton of customizations. The F77 also features a fancy 9 DOF (Degree of Freedom) Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). This helps in sharing information like power, torque being transmitted, braking force, lean angle with the smartphone app.
