You might wonder what makes us call this Drag race The Ultimate Drag Battle? We have seen drag races of superbike pitted against the jet or Supercar racing against a jet in previous showdowns. Rather, how frequently you see an F-16 fighter jet, a Challenger 605 private jet, a Formula 1 car, the 2019 Aston Martin Vantage, a Tesla P100D, a Lotus Evora GT, and a Kawasaki H2R battling against each other 400m long race. Probably never before.
This all occurred at an event in Turkey known as Teknofest Istanbul Aerospace and Technology Festival. Teknofest Istanbul is organized by the Turkey Technology Team Foundation (T3) and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality to promote and to showcase Turkey’s rapid advance in technology at the city’s new airport. Nearly 80,000 people were present at the event. The festival features air shows, aviation demonstrations, technology competitions, seminars on cutting-edge technology, and an international entrepreneurship summit, along with other activities.
As a part of the event, this Ultimate Drag Battle took place. Not only the Cars, Jets, and Bike were Unique. People Driving and taking charge were special too. The Red Bull F1 car driven by Blancpain GT Series’ Jake Dennis, Kawasaki Ninja H2R ridden by former professional motorcycle racer Kenan Sofuoglu and a Tesla model S P100DL commanded by professional driver Emma Kimilainen.
Three parallel landing strips set for the Ultimate Drag Battle. Likewise both the jet using individual strips and the rest of the vehicles on another strip. Furthermore, as the race starts one can see F1 car pulling ahead of H2R due to better grip it offers. Tesla leaps forward from two of the supercars with its instant torque. While The F-16 and Challenger 605 took off with a slow start.
Almost within a few seconds, we can see the H2R and F1 car fighting head to head for the finish leaving others behind. While with its lightweight H2R manages to pull ahead over the F1 car.
Finally, Ninja H2R took 9.43 seconds to cross the line and won the drag with just over 0.04 seconds ahead of the F1 car. The F-16 increased its pace and finished third.
Certainly, we all knew Kawasaki Ninja H2R was fast, but this just marks another milestone for the H2R. Powered by a 998cc Liquid cooled 4-Stroke Inline Four Engine. Producing around 326ps at 14,000 rpm with Ram Air, Putting down 165Nm of Torque at 12,500 rpm. It is priced at 72 Lakhs ex-showroom in India.
