TVS Motors launched its much awaited 125 CC Ntorq Scooter in India based out of Ntorq Concept showcased at 2016 Auto Expo. TVS has now increased their scooter line up after Pep+, Zest 110, Wego and Jupiter. The Ntorq will be placed above all as flagship-scooter. The Scooter looks very impressive with its stealth fighter inspired design and aerodynamics. Although it has quite similar face like Yamaha Ray and Honda Grazia. Though, the design is not a copy and is purely newly designed by TVS designers but the similarities can be seen. The scooter is compact sleek and neatly designed machine.
The Scooter comes with some mind blowing segment first technologies like SmartXonnect for Bluetooth connectivity and fully digital center console and as big as your cell phone. The Digital console has 3 different modes Street, Sport and Ride Stats. It has Caller ID and an app based parking location assist along with navigation assistance. The huge display also has lap timer, a top-speed recorder (same as apache), average speed indicator, engine oil temperature, a clock, two trip meters followed with fuel gauge and speedo meter. It also feature a mobile charging option and has a 22 liters of storage capacity. These feature make it apart from the scooter out there in the market. Ntorq has a day time LED running light (DRLs) with halogen headlamp at the center of the front cowl. The tail lamp though is a LED one with separated turn indicators.
The Ntorq is powered with a new CVTi-REVV 124.79 cc single-cylinder, 4-stroke, 3-valve, air-cooled SOHC engine that churns out about 9.3 bhp at 7,500 rpm and with a peak torque of 10.5 Nm which can makes 95 Kmph of top-speed. The Ntorq has a wheelbase of 1,285mm and a kerb weight of 116.1kg. The front and rear all black 12’ Inch 10 spoke diamond design alloy wheel gives it real sporty looks and makes it stand out of crowd. The front wheel sports a 100/80×12 tyre and a 110/80×12 tyre at the rear with tubeless on both sides. The suspension at the front is performed by 30mm telescopic fork and gas-filled shock absorber at the rear. The scooter comes with 220 mm front disc brakes while the rear has a regular 130 drum brakes. Though ABS has not been offered with the package. The Scooter comes with Four colour options – Matte Red, Matte Green, Matte White and Matte Yellow.
Once you start the engine with throttle you will realize that this scooter something really macho. The Exhaust has thumping impression and is different unlike we seen in other scooters which has a smooth exhaust note. The Ntorq scooter will lock horns against Honda Grazia, Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Swiss 125 and upcoming Aprilia SR125. TVS has this time priced the techy scooter very competitively at Rs. 58,750 (ex-showroom, Delhi) which is jaw dropping for a tech loaded scooter with 125 CC engine.
Overall the scooter is impressive with top notch techy features and can go through the market competition easily. The Scooter aims the young generation and yes, they have really achieved that. The Scooter could become a good choice for anyone who likes sportier scooters over bikes.
