TVS has announced BS6 range of their Apache series. Along with the BS6 update bikes also get various features and upgrades in the engine department. TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and RTR 160 4V are updated as of now.
The first and foremost things you will notice is the new all-LED headlight setup for both the bikes. The position lamps are also in a new position and give the bike a different look than the outgoing version. Other changes include a feather touch start which seems to be one-touch start technology. The graphics of the bikes also has some minor changes, with a new seat design.
TVS has also introduced Race Tuned-Fuel injection ‘RT-Fi’ technology, which is design for better performance throughout the rev range. Also, new technology is known as GTT – Glide Through Traffic, which is basically an anti-knock feature at low speeds. The mirrors design has also been changed for better visibility. RTR 200 4V also gets new tyres.
The engine remains the same but there are some changes in power and torque figures. Apache BS6 RTR 200 4V has a 197.75cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine which makes 20.2bhp at 8,500 rpm and 16.8Nm of torque (down from 18.1Nm) at 7,500 pm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox and gets a slipper clutch. While the Apache BS6 RTR 160 4V gets a 159.7cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine which makes 15.8bhp (down from 16.6bhp ) at 8,250 pm and 14.12 Nm (down from 14.8Nm) of torque at 7,250 pm.
The prices have also gone up by a few thousands for the various updates and the BS6 compliant engine. Starting from Apache RTR 160 4V for the drum variant it costs Rs 99,950. The disc variant is priced at Rs 1.03 lakh. And the RTR 200 4V costs Rs 1.24 lakh. You can book the BS6 variant at any TVS dealership across the country.
