Auto Expo has proved many rumors to be true and Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s Yaris is among them. Yaris has been rumored and seen testing in Indian soil since long time and finally the Japanese car manufacturer, Toyota has unwrap the Yaris at Auto expo 2018. Toyota Yaris is a mid-size sedan which is placed below Corolla Altis and above Etios.
Toyota has confirmed that the booking will start from April 2018 and soon the deliveries will be started. The Yaris has been very popular in the Southeast Asian countries with name tag Vios but was later changed to Yaris. The Car has its great legacy and has carried forward it to Indian soil after a long waiting time. Yaris would be filling the gap between Etios and Corolla Altis, which was clearly felt at Toyota’s line-up.
How it looks outside
The Car is clearly seen reminiscent of Toyota’s new platform from Corolla Altis and Camry. The front facia has dual tone bumpers with central thick chrome line merging with the large swept-black headlamps and the central nose with brand logo connecting the chrome finish lines. The front bumper has huge Black tone insert in it with horizontal stretch with large air intake grills featuring LED DRLs lamps. Both side in the front bumpers have small Fog lamps integrated into sleek vertical black Insert. And the OVRMS with spear head design gives the car a complete premium look. The sides are very clean with arch line from rear tail lamp to front door handle bars and from front wheels arch ending towards rear door wind screen. The tail lamps are led which is neatly designed along with the chrome line between both the tail lamps beneath the central brand logo at the rear.
How it looks inside?
The Interiors are just awesome, Thanks to the Toyota’s designer. Although, one can feel the mix and cues from Corolla Altis. Which is absolutely rewarded, isn’t it? The leathery interiors make you feel premium behind the wheels with dual tone black and beige colors. The car has some segment-first offering like roof mounted AC vents (which we see in premium luxury cars) Tyre pressure monitoring system, Powered driver seat and the central infotainment system with hand gesture tech. Features like steering mounted controls and 2 DIN music systems are also packed in. At the rear the car has 3 headrest for the passenger and an arm rest in case of two passenger at the back.
What about the Power?
Toyota Kirloskar Motors has though confirmed, the Yaris will be powered with a 1.5 Litre VVT-i petrol engine and the transmission would be done by a 6 speed manual or a option of 7 speed CVT automatic. Additionally a diesel version is also expected to be introduced as every rival has a diesel option as well.
Safe, Safer, Safest
Toyota has been most prominent leader in terms of safety norms and hence the same has been replicated to Yaris. The Car has 7 Air Bags which is segment first along with ABS and EBD like feature, front parking sensors and all-wheel disc brakes. The current generation of Yaris has scored 5 star rating at ASEAN-NCAP crash tests.
How much to cost?
Well, Toyota seems to be very serious with the pricing and so Yaris is planned to be manufactured in Toyota’s Karnataka manufacturing facility with maximum localization to keep the price competitive. However, the estimated pricing between the range of Rs. 8.4-13.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Yaris has all the essentials to become the most loved car in this segment as Toyotas safety and low maintenance records are in everybody’s mind. The Car looks complete with the features check lists. We are awaiting more information once the car is available. Yaris will rival against the Best-selling Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna.
