Toyota will soon release the all-new Glanza hatchback in the Indian market. It is based on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno which has received a Toyota badge. It has been developed jointly by Maruti Suzuki and Toyota under a contract which was signed in the year 2017. The good news is that the all-new Glanza has been spied while it was parked. The first model of Maruti Suzuki and Toyota is expected to hit the Indian market in June, this year.
The company has already revealed the first teaser of the upcoming Glanza. It has received many exciting features and new attractive design. The hatch is outfitted with a new grille and somewhat updated front that makes it different from existing Baleno. The spy shots reveal that car with chrome slates and a Toyota badge at the middle of the body. The overall look of the car is just like the Baleno. Some identical elements are chrome strip, the headlamps, the fog lamps and lower air dam.
The spied model is the top-specs ‘V’ trim of the model inspired by the Alpha version of the Baleno. The line-up will be also introduced in a ‘G’ variant inspired by the mid-specs, Baleno Zeta. From the side portion, we didn’t notice any changes compared to the Baleno. The features of the cabin are still not disclosed. Although, it is expected to be the same as the popular Baleno. The company can change the colour theme of the cabin to differentiate from the Baleno. It can be also integrated with an enhanced infotainment system.
The upcoming Glanza can be offered in two engine options. It can run on 1.2-litre, four-cylinder K12 petrol engine by Maruti Suzuki. It could also come with 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which can make 79 bhp power and 104 Nm torque. It will be not available in diesel variant. The engines will be combined with a five-speed manual and a CVT on offer.
In terms of safety features, it will be equipped with dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, front seatbelts and load limiters, ISOFIX child seat anchors, rear parking sensors, high-speed warning as standard. The Glanza can be priced between Rs 6-9 lakh ex-showroom. It will compete against the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo and the future Tata Altroz.
