Most Selling Car: Tata Motor Tiago was introduced in April in the year 2016, since then it has attracted many customers looking for an awesome entry-level car. The Tiago is a popular small entry-level car which reported an amazing sales growth after the launch. We have already reported the top 10 best selling cars in March 2018, but as per current reports the Tiago has achieved the second position and Maruti Suzuki Alto still remains at the first spot. Maruti Suzuki Alto is also an entry level car which has a remarkable sales growth since launch date and yet popular in the automotive market.
The Tiago has passed Renault Kwid and Hyundai Eon, which presently gets third and fourth spots, individually. As per Siam (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers), Tata Motor has successfully sold 23,100 units of Tiago from January-March this year. However, Alto has been sold approximately 62,200 units, but Tiago sales increase is also striking. Earlier in January-March 2017, the company sold about 15,383 units of Tiago, so the selling unit has raised about 50%. From the previous month, the Alto has witnessed sales increase by merely 1%, although achieved to remain at the first spot. Since then, the sporty small car, Renault Kwid has reported sales drop by 32% and sold nearly 17,517 units.
Similar to Kwid, Hyundai Eon has also noticed a drop of 7% in selling units in the first quarter of this year. From 2017-18, Tata Motors sold 83,089 units (just domestic sales) of Kwid and becomes the second most selling small entry-level car. In 2017-18, 78,829 units of Tiago were delivered from the dealer’s showroom so, the sales growth is about 40% from last year. The rapid sales growth of Tiago can also make it in the second position for the year 2018-19. There are many competitors in the concept who are struggling to come in the second spot of top 10 selling cars.
The Tiago is available at an affordable price of Rs 3,20,000. It has become the bestselling model of the company as a domestic passenger vehicle market. After the introduction of the model in the market, the company sold about 134,952 units of the car. The car estimated at 42% of the industry domestic passenger vehicle businesses (187,321 units) in 2017-18, more than the 36% addition, after the rollout. The model was further effective in making 22% increase for the Tata Motor’s passenger vehicle segment in 2017.
According to a member of Tata Motors, ” The concept and infotainment were the main highlights behind the success of Tiago. The stylish and small car has attracted many young buyers and added many new customers to the company. The powerful and appealing promotion is also a reason. It is successful in urban as well as the rural markets. The model will remain to develop as a powerful concept in the mid-sized hatch section. The automotive firm hopes that the model gets great interest from the buyers in the next financial year as well”.
He further added that Tiago will soon get a new rival in the small vehicle concept from the famous Hyundai. The MD at automobile consultancy firm Urban Science India, Amit Kaushik, claimed that since many past years, the car market doesn’t have any impressive entry-level small car hence, the Kwid and Tiago achieved to become great small cars, the next Hyundai can definitely influence the sales of these models.
