Earlier this year Maruti Suzuki had recalled the New Gen Swift and the Baleno for faulty brake vacuum hose. While this time again the New Gen Swift and Dzire recalled silently over faulty Air Bag controller unit. Maruti Suzuki proactively and voluntarily undertook this recall for 1279 vehicles out of which 566 units of new gen Swift. While 713 Dzire are affected which are being manufactured between 7th May 2018 and 5th July 2018.
The New Gen Swift and Dzire Recalled and the campaign begun from 25th of July 2018, and the owners would be contacted by the Maruti Suzuki dealers for the inspection and replacement (incase required) of faulty air bag controller with no cost to the owner. Although, customers can still visit the “provided link” to check if their car is affected in the recall. Customers of new Swift and new Dzire can fill in the chassis number (For new Swift – MBH and for new Dzire – MA3 followed by 14 digit alpha-numeric number) to see if thier vehicles is actually impacted in this New Gen Swift and Dzire Recall.
Air bag controller unit has very vital role in safety of the occupants. However, there is no news or confirmation from the manufacturer if this fault has affected any casualty or injury to the customers. The recall may make the customers feel disturbed as this is a second recall for the new gen Swift in just 5 months of its launch. However, this is really appreciated that manufacturers are now more proactive and responsible in recent days.
The New Gen Swift and Dzire are powered with same 1.2 litre petrol engine which produces 82 bhp @ 6000 RPM with peak torque of 113NM @ 4200 RPM. While the diesel unit is a 1.3 Litre DDiS on both Swift and Dzire which generates 74 bhp @ 4000 RPM with 190 NM of peak torque @ 2000 RPM.
