Tata Motors has recalled the diesel engine powered Tata Tigor over emission issue. The cars manufactured between 6th March, 2017 and 1st December, 2017 bearing chasis number from MAT629401GKP52721 to MAT629401HKN89616 has developed some emission issue. The recall is voluntary and Tata Motors is fixing this potential emission issue at free of cost to the buyers. Tata Motors has not explained the emission issue but claims that this emission issue will not hamper the safety of the Tigor any way and affected ones are safe to drive regardless of the fix. Tata Motors calls this campaign as a service initiative rather than a recall for the concerned four wheelers.

Tata Motors has not yet revealed the number of Tigor diesel variant affect by this potential emission issue. However, some informed estimates put the count at around 7000 to 9000 units. The respective owners of the recalled Tata Tigor diesel variant will be contacted by the representatives from the Tata dealerships and get the problem fixed at the earliest. The owners of the diesel motor powered Tigor may also call up on 1800-209-7979 to fix up an appointment for their cars. No statement regarding any problem about the tata Tigor petrol variants have been issued by the automaker. Therefore the owners of the petrol powered Tigor need not worry.

The Tata Tigor is the automaker’s hot selling car because of value pricing. The Tata Tigor is India’s least priced compact sedan and comes in five variants – XE, XM, XT, XZ AND XZ[O]. The diesel powered Tigor is priced starting from Rs 5.72 Lakh and going up to Rs 7.19 Lakh. The Tata Tigor diesel variant is powered by a three cylinder 1.05 litre engine which delivers a power of 69 bhp at 4000 rpm and produces a peak torque of 140 Nm from 1800 rpm – 3000 rpm. A five speed manual transmission is coupled to the engine.

The Tigor takes on the likes of Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Ford Aspire, Volkswagen Ameo and Hyundai Xcent.The Tata Tigor was launched in India last year. The compact sedan was developed based on the Tiago Hatchback. The Tiago Hatchback and the Tigor gets the same diesel engine and the gearbox. However, the Tiago hatchback has not been affected by the current recall.
