Rumours have been around the internet and now a recent report strengthens the possibility of upcoming Tata sub-4-meter sedan. The sedan has been codenamed the ‘Goshaq’. Although Tata has already had a sub-4-meter sedan right now, Tata Tigor. So the new sedan might replace the Tigor in upcoming years or sell side by side.
According to the report, the sedan will take its design cues from HBX concept. Doing a google search for Goshaq reveals no prominent results, but there is a bird named Goshawk, which is considered to be ‘true hawk’. Going by Tata pas names Harrier and the upcoming Hornbill it can pretty much be it. But we will have to wait and see.
Tata Goshaq will be based on the ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) platform. It will adopt Tata’s latest iteration of IMPACT design philosophy. While Tigor has been facelifted and is a good car among the competition, but it still has the old design philosophy and is based on an older platform so replacing it with a new ALFA platform is a good bet.
Powering the Goshaq can be the latest offering from Tata, the same engines in the Altroz hatchback. The 1.2-litre Revotron which makes 86ps of power at 6,000 rpm and 113Nm of torque at 3,300rpm. Or the 1.5 Litre Revotorq which makes 90ps of power at 4,000 rpm and 200Nm of torque between 1,250 and 3,000 rpm. Both the engines come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Tata can also offer the option of 5-speed AMT.
There is no confirmed news of the ‘Goshaq’ as of now, these are just rumours. If it comes we can expect its launch somewhere by the end of 2021 or early 2020. It will compete with Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Aura and Ford Aspire.
