Tata H7X - The Harrier Based SUV To Be Launched In 2019

Tata Motors will launch the all new Harrier SUV in the country on January 23, 2019. Apart from that, the automaker is also working on to introduce two other models following the launch of the Harrier. One of the cars is the Tata 45X premium hatchback which was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo and the other is the seven seater version of the Harrier SUV which is codenamed as Tata H7X. The Tata H7X SUV will be launched in the country in 2019. The H7X SUV has been spied testing both in the India and in abroad.

The new H7X SUV is based on the new OMEGA platform, which is derived from the Land Rover’s D8 architecture. The H7X is going to be the first SUV from Tata Motors to be built on the monocoque FWD platform. The all new Tata H7X SUV will get distinct styling which will be different from the upcoming Tata Harrier SUV. The new H7X SUV will differ in dimension as well from the Harrier SUV, measuring 62 mm longer than the upcoming Harrier. However, both the vehicles will get a wheelbase of 2,741 mm.

The new Tata H7X seven seater SUV will be powered by the same 2.0 litre Kryotec diesel which will power the upcoming Tata Harrier SUV. The motor is likely be tuned to deliver a power of 170 bhp and produce a peak torque of 350 Nm, thereby making it more powerful than the Tata Harrier. A six speed manual gearbox, which sends power to the front wheels, will get paired to the engine. A Hyundai sourced six speed automatic gearbox will be provided on the H7X SUV as an optional offering. The new Tata H7X is likely to come with all wheel drive layout.

The seven seater H7X SUV will be placed above the upcoming Tata Harrier in terms of both pricing and positioning. The Tata H7X will compete on the likes of the upcoming next generation Mahindra XUV500 and the next generation Hyundai Creta offered in seven seater layout. Both the rivals of the seven – seater SUV from Tata will be launched in 2020.
