Tata Altroz, the premium new hatchback offering from Tata to rival Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20 is being teased by Tata Motors. Tata has released two videos showcasing the front and rear of the hatchback.
The Tata Altroz will make its debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. First showcased as the 45X concept Tata finally revealed the full name after teasing a few letters of the name. Tata Altroz name comes derived from the Albatross bird which flies long distances with ease.
Coming to the videos Tata released, the first video came out to be of the rear end of the hatchback which looks quite magnificent. The tail lamps appear to be LED unit. Also a integrated roof spoiler can be seen.
While in another video the front of the Tata Altroz has been showcased. The front looks quite similar to the Tata Tigor. It gets a chrome stripe under the Tata logo.
Tata is targeting the premium hatchback segment, so the Altroz will feature spacious interiors and features. Infotainment might be the same big unit seen in Harrier, the instrument cluster can also be analog digital duo. The AC vents will positioned same as in Harrier. The speaker setup will also be best in segment considering Tata previous iterations.
Tata Altroz is the second model after Tata Harrier SUV to get the IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy. The hatchback is designed and engineered by Tata Motors European Technical Centre PLC [TMETC], UK. It is based on ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) Architecture.
Tata Altroz will be get both petrol and diesel engine options. The Diesel mill could most likely be shared from Nexon which is a 1.5 liter turbo diesel engine churning out 110PS of power at 3750 rpm and 260Nm of Torque. While the petrol motor which can also be shared from Nexon is a 1.2 liter, 3 cylinder turbo petrol unit making same 110PS power at 5000rpm and 170Nm torque. Transmission duties will be done by a 6 speed manual gearbox, an Automatic Option should also be introduced.
India launch and dates are yet not confirmed but it should shortly follow after the debut at the Geneva Motor Show. Tata will price the Altroz competitively to rival Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20 and Honda Jazz.
