Well Well, It looks like Tata Motors is firing on all cylinders for the slew of launches ahead. For one, it’s an open secret that Tata’s next big launch is the Altroz. It is based on the 45X Concept that swept the 2018 Auto Expo along with the H5X concept which is now the Harrier. Tata Motors is pulling all the stops to make sure that Altroz hits the sweet spot among the Indian buyers. The Altroz was recently captured in the video doing high-altitude testing.
Not only the Altroz, other members of the Tata family – BS6 Nexon, Tigor and Tiago facelift were spied together. The Altroz in the second car to follow the IMPACT 2.0 design language. Upon launch, it will be the most modern hatchback from the homegrown automaker. The Altroz will pack some segment first features too.
The heart of the Altroz will be a BS6 compliant 1.5L diesel motor that does the job on the Nexon. But, the power will be slightly lesser – at around 90PS as compared to the 110PS in the nexon. Well, who knows Tata might offer the Altroz in the 110PS avatar too. Only time will tell the answer.
Speaking of the engine, Tata is planning to launch the BS6 version of the Nexon. Of late, Mahindra’s XUV300 and more recently Hyundai’s Venue have been feasting on Nexon’s sales numbers. So, to combat this Tata is looking to make “BS6 Compliance”, their weapon of choice. Riding on the “India’s safest car” wave, the BS6 Nexon could help to turn the tide in Tata’s favor.
So, Only the Altroz and Nexon?
Nope. Tata is also working on the facelift of the the Tiago and the Tigor. It is very likely that both these cars will receive an mild exterior facelift and BS6 compliant engines.
