The production version of the hatch will be unwrapped at Geneva Motorshow to be held on 25th February 2019 and the launch will take place in this festive season.
An exclusive video from Tata confirms that the vehicle will be first revealed as a production variant. In the automotive market, it will be placed under the premium hatch segment. The 45X Concept was first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo, since then it is known with its codename. The name of the hatch will be of a six-letter word which is inspired by the title of ‘agile seabird’.
Earlier it was rumoured that the upcoming hatch will be called Aquila, but when the company revealed the third letter, the name was confirmed as ‘ALTROZ’ which is based on a seabird termed Albatross. The upcoming Tata Altroz has been spotted many times while on the test which gives us a glimpse of the overall look and features. We can say that after the dashing Harrier, this will be the next astonishing model of the company. It will attract young-gen customers with its bold and luxurious appearance. The vehicle is designed by UK-based Tata Motors European Technical Centre PLC (TMETC).
The vehicle will be the second premium car to be built on the company’s ‘Impact 2.0’ design concept. Hence, it will get a few similar tweaks from the popular SUV ‘Harrier’ such as the ‘Humanity Line’ grille, headlights with LED DRL’s, and high-end digital instrument cluster. In the cabin, the car will be also equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system which will support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The safety features might include push-button start/stop, semi-digital instrument cluster, multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking camera/sensors, seatbelt reminders and high-speed alert system.
The upcoming Tata car will run on the same Nexon powertrain. It is expected to be introduced in petrol as well as diesel variants. The petrol unit will be a 1.2-litre unit which will deliver 110bhp of power and 170Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre diesel unit will produce 110bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. The good news is that the company is also developing an all-electric model of the 45X. It can be priced at nearly Rs 5.5 lakh. It will rival against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, and Honda Jazz.
