The Tata 45X is scheduled to launch in the country next year during the festive season in the month of September. The 45X hatchback was showcased in concept form at the 2018 Auto Expo. The 45X will be launched after the launch of the Tata Harrier SUV in the early 2019. Therefore, Tata Motors has begun testing their first premium hatchback actively. Soumobakshi, an automotive enthusiast and a member of TeamBHP has spotted the car on test on the Tumkur Road stretch.
The Tata 45X is the second model after Tata Harrier SUV to get the IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy. The hatchback is designed and engineered by Tata Motors European Technical Centre PLC [TMETC], UK, which is positioned on the company’s new Advanced Modular Platform. The spy images of the hatchback clearly reveal its seven inch dashboard and the free floating touchscreen infotainment system inspite of the exterior being camouflaged. Despite having based on different platforms, the 45X has similar layout of the touchscreen infotainment system, dashboard and AC vents to that of the Harrier SUV. The touchscreen infotainment system is expected to come installed with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto as well as reverse parking assist. Besides that, Tata Motors has offered its first premium hatchback with features like drive modes, automatic climate control, steering mounted audio controls and a stellar music system tuned by Harman.
The car comes with an edgy design on the exterior. The interior of the hatchback is spacious. The Tata 45X hatchback features sloping roof, conventional door handles in the front and pillar mounted door handles at the rear. The car is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 5.5 lakhs to Rs 9 lakhs.
The production version of the 45X premium hatchback will be offered in both petrol and diesel powering options. The 1.5 litre Revotorq petrol engine and the 1.5 litre Revotorq diesel engine will be BS VI compliant. Both the engines will be provided with manual and AMT transmission options. Once launched, the Tata 45X hatchback will compete on the likes of the Hyundai i20 and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
