Till now Suzuki Motorcycles India was playing in scooter segment. Now it has decided to try its hands in Cruiser segment. It has made a comeback into cruiser segment by launching its new product Suzuki Intruder 150 . However, Suzuki has just made an entry whereas the market is going up with higher displacement bikes, like Bajaj Avenger 220 and RE Thunderbird 350. Talking about its looks, its design is inspired by large cruiser bikes with triangle shaped headlamp (which also features LED DRLs) and fuel tank capacity of 11.0 liter. Fuel tank has a massive extension which is almost reaching to the head lamp. Curvy seat gives a guarantee of luxurious feel while driving this cruiser. The rare portion of this cruiser gets a dual-barrel exhaust which seems to be very appealing. Paint finish of the panels is very impressive. The bike looks all way muscular but the rear wheels don’t seems matching with the muscular body and the wheels looks skinny. Suzuki tried well to imprint the original intruder 1800 to intruder 150.
On performance front, Suzuki intruder 150 gets a 154.9 cc air-cooled engine which is already being used in Gixxer. This engine generates maximum power of 8000rpm and 14Nm of peak torque and 14.8 PS of power with 5-speed manual transmission. It comes with ABS with mounting of disk break on front and back both. Telescopic Fork and adjustable rear Swing-arm suspensions are mounted to give a rider a very comfortable ride. 17 inches alloy wheels are giving this cruiser a ground clearance of 170mm. As far as the mileage is concerned, Suzuki intruder 150 is supposed to give the mileage of 44 Kmpl in tested conditions as per ARAI.
In terms of Prices, Suzuki is offering this product on Rs. 98,340 (Ex-showroom Price, Delhi) which is higher than its competitor Bajaj Avenger Street 150(Rs. 81,459 Ex-showroom Price, Delhi) and we all know that Bajaj Avenger Street 150 is a well know name in this segment. Now, we have to wait and watch to see how good Suzuki performs in the segment with its new product. Overall, Suzuki Intruder 150 is a good package to buy at this price point with some more features and a fresh look as compared to Bajaj Avenger Street 150. Intruder will have direct competition with Bajaj Avenger 150. However, Suzuki must introduce higher displacement cruiser bikes to match up with the pace of demand in current market scenario, as there are cruiser bikes with higher displacements too out there.
