Suzuki launched its smallest sports bike, the Suzuki GSX-R150 in Indonesia. This new special edition variant is launched to celebrate its anniversary. The motorcycle is priced at IDR 30,150,00 (INR 143,000). The bike is expected to go on public display at GIIAS 2018 in Indonesia next month. This launch brings about India launch expectations by the end of this year.
The new special edition is seen in a white and blue paint job. The GSX-R150 is powered by a 150cc engine which produces a maximum power of 19.17hp and maximum torque of 14Nm. It comes with LED headlights, fully digital instrument console, front and rear disc brakes, and an optional ABS.
If launched in India, the Suzuki GSX-R150 will be a direct competitor to the Yamaha YZF R15. Currently in India Suzuki sells the Suzuki Gixxer SF 150 in the 150cc sports bike segment. This is a faired version of the naked Gixxer 150. The Gixxer 150 produces just 14bhp and 14Nm of torque. The GSX-R150 is tuned for better performance than the Gixxer 150. The power figures of the GSX-R150 are only slightly less than that of Yamaha YZF R15. This motorcycle will also go up against the Honda CBR 150R which was recently updated with new paint schemes.
The GSX-R150 has a 147.3cc single cylinder, liquid cooled, fuel injected, 4-stroke, DOHC engine. It is mated to a 6-speed gear box. It has a small 11 litre fuel tank. The motorcycle measures 2020mm in length, 700mm in width, and 1075mm in height. The seat height is only 785mm which is not intimidating to shorter riders. The ground clearance is 160mm and the wheelbase measures 1300mm. The motorcycle weighs just 131 kilograms.
The front wheel is 17 inches and it gets a 90 section tire. The rear wheel is also 17 inches and it gets 130 section tires. The instrument cluster is fully digital and includes – speedometer, tachometer, trip meter, odometer, clock, fuel gauge, gear indicator, low oil indicator, low battery indicator etc.
