The most popular motorcycle in Suzuki Motorcycles India line-up will get a much-needed update soon. According to recent reports, Suzuki is preparing to launch the updated Suzuki Gixxer very soon in the Indian market. The Gixxer 155 update news comes in light of the recent launch of TVS Apache RTR 160.
The overhauled Suzuki Gixxer 155 will also be accompanied by the new Gixxer 250. The new Gixxer 250 is set to take on the likes Yamaha FZ25, KTM Duke 250, Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 and the TVS Apache RTR 200. New overhauled Gixxer 155 will compete against the newly launched TVS Apache RTR 160 and the Bajaj Pulsar NS 160.
The 2019 Gixxer 155 is expected to get a complete cosmetic upgrade. It is expected to get full LED headlights, split seats, and sportier tank shrouds and other parts. It may also include a fully digital instrument cluster and an easy start system. The new model is expected to get a sharper design over the current model. While the chassis may be retained, the overall ride quality may be tuned for better handling and riding dynamics. The power figures will be similar to the current model.
The current Gixxer and its faired counterpart- Gixxer SF runs on a 155cc single cylinder, air cooled motor. It is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The carburetted engine produces a maximum power of 14bhp (at 8000RPM) and 14Nm peak torque (at 6000RPM). It comes with a 260mm front disc brake and a 220mm rear disc brake. ABS is offered as an option for an extra INR 7000 over the base model. The bike measures 2050mm in length, 1030mm in height, and 785mm in height. The ground clearance is 160mm, wheelbase is 1330mm and seat height is a low 765mm. It has a single down tube chassis. The motorcycle weighs in at light 135 kilograms.
