Suzuki motorcycles have launched the all-new Suzuki Burgman in India. This maxi-scooter inspired design is a first in India. It is modeled around the bigger Burgman maxi-scooters. 125cc scooter market in India has seen a lot of new additions recently. We have the Honda Activa 125 which is Suzuki Burgman’s primary competitor. We also saw the launch of the face lifted Suzuki Access which is selling a lot of units. Aprilia SR125, Honda Grazia and the TVS Ntorq are the recent additions to the 125cc fleet.
The European styled scooter comes with a ton of features at an exciting price. It is interesting to see the reaction of this scooter as dealers are already quoting waiting periods of upto 2 months.
The design is unique to the Indian market. Its luxurious and premium looks are complemented by the big LED headlights and the body mounted windscreen. It gets LED tail lamps which also is designed uniquely. The scooter is covered in Chrome fittings all over to show its luxurious stance. It gets chrome garnishing and chrome rear-view mirrors. A sporty looking exhaust adds to the very appealing design of this scooter.
Burgman 125 measures 1,884mm in length, 1,163mm in height and 661mm in width. Ground clearance is a generous 160mm.
It is offered in three different colors, pearl mirage white, metallic matt fibroin gray and glass sparkle black.
Suzuki Burgman gets a huge list of features. It comes with big and bright LED headlamps and LED tail lamps. The body mounted windscreen is a welcome touch. The foot rest design for the rider is different from the normal scooters. It is placed much higher which will be a lot comfortable for taller riders. Pillion foot rests are made of aluminium.
Under seat storage is a decent 21.5 liters. There is also the added 2 liter glove box and extra racks for additional storage solution. The glove box also includes a USB port for easy charging of smartphones. There are dual luggage hooks at the front too.
The all digital multi-function console is a great addition to the Burgman. It has a lot of information like speed, two trip meters, fuel level meter and an oil change indicator.
Burgman runs on a 124cc 4-stroke air cooled SOHC motor which pumps out a max power of 8.7ps and a max torque of 10.2Nm. This engine is similar to the one in the Access 125.
Suzuki has installed telescopic front forks and a single rear shock absorber. It comes with a Combined Braking System (CBS) which makes use of a front disc and a rear drum brake.
It has a 12-inch front alloy and a 10-inch rear alloy. Both the front and rear alloys have a 90 section MRF Nylogrip Zapper tubeless tires.
