Anand Mahindra unveiled the Ssangyong Korando earlier today at the Geneva Motor Show. Ssangyong is a South Korean company and is also a subsidiary of India’s Mahindra. Korando which means Korea is one of the main cars in Ssangyong’s line-up. It falls between the Tivoli and the Rexton.
The 2020 Korando gets an all-new design on the exterior. It is longer and wider than the outgoing model. The car measures 4,452mm long, 1,870mm wide and 1,620mm high, and also with a wheelbase of 2,675mm. It has an extremely practical design while trying to please the younger audience.
The interior is spacious and offers a premium feel. It gets a 9″ AVN (audio-visual navigation) screen and also a 10.25″full-color LCD cluster dual navigation. It gets Apple CarPlay, Google Android Auto and a Tom Tom sat nav system. This appears both on the main screen and within the instrument cluster for safe viewing. The seats are 4-way adjustable and also offers lumbar support for better comfort. The cabin also gets adjustable ambient lighting to set the mood.
The 2020 Ssangyong Korando gets two engine options at launch. They are a 1.5-liter petrol GDI-turbo engine and an updated 1.6-liter diesel engine. An EV option might make its way later down the road. The 1.5 GDI turbo engine outputs 161 bhp power at 5,500 rpm and maximum torque of 280Nm. The 1.6 diesel produces 134 bhp at 4,000 rpm and also a maximum torque of 342 Nm. This diesel engine is highly economical and efficient. It also has an impressive towing capacity of 2 tonnes. Also, both the variants are offered with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed AISIN automatic transmission.
