Skoda Previews The Upcoming Superb Facelift With A Sketch Rendering

Skoda Superb was long due to get its facelift update. While now the update is just around the corner this month, Skoda revealed a sketch rendering of the upcoming facelift. The facelift doesn’t carry any major changes but there are various subtle changes to make the car feel fresh again.

Skoda will launch the car globally at the 2019 IIHF (Ice Hockey World Championship), in Bratislava, Slovakia. Skoda has been sponsoring this event from more than two decades (Since 1993). It’s been four year years when the current generation Skoda Superb was launched in India.

The sketch only shows the front fascia of the car and we can see that the headlight unit design is the same as the current gen Superb. Things that have changed is the redesigned bumper and fog lamps. Also, the new headlamps are full-LED with LED fog lamps. The signature Superb Grille looks a bit wider than the current gen. A chrome strip runs between both the fog lamps. We do not have any renderings of the rear of the car just yet. But Skoda has revealed that it will get spaced out Skoda lettering at the rear instead of the Skoda logo, same as in the new Scala.

The interiors should also be revamped with better and new features. Skoda claimed that the Superb will get features from a segment above. It should get a bigger touchscreen infotainment system with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and other various smart functions.

Things will not change much under the hood of the upcoming Skoda Superb facelift. But there’s an interesting electric hybrid setup ready.
The hybrid variant will get a 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol motor paired up with an electric motor. The setup will be carried from the Volkswagen Passat GTE. Skoda Superb will be Skoda’s first plug-in hybrid vehicle. The electric motor in the Passat can do 55 km in pure electric mode in the WLTP cycle.

After the global launch this month, we can expect Skoda to launch the Superb facelift later this year in India. It competes with Honda Accord Hybrid, Toyota Camry and Volkswagen Passat. Skoda has also planned to launch Skoda Kamiq and Skoda Karoq this year.
