Skoda Auto has officially announced the special edition of the Octavia RS. The new variant is known as Octavia RS Challenge and has received some remarkable exterior modification and innovative features which makes it more attractive and sporty. However, the vehicle remains with the same underpinnings and engine. The feature-packed version is introduced with an extra kit which is distinct from the standard variant.
In terms of exterior updates, the Challenge sits on 19-inch black alloy wheels. It is also equipped with blacked out elements such as trim sports exhaust, folding door mirrors and sporty RS logo. The interior of the RS Challenge is also modified with electronically adjustable body-hugging Alcantara seats highlighting heating function. Some additional features include keyless entry, Amundsen satellite navigation, push-button, 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment, and a trip computer along with a lap timer.
The company has provided some new elements which will enhance the performance of the new variant. It comes with a VAQ limited-slip differential which will offer maximum power to the wheels while cornering. Now, the kit also includes dynamic chassis control DCC which produces decreased lateral body action while cornering. The driver will enjoy great rides in all road conditions with these new features. It gets all other features which were offered in the standard model.
The company also offers two gearbox options to its customers, which includes 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The all-new Skoda Octavia vRS Challenge is powered by the same 2.0L turbocharged TSI petrol powertrain which is capable of producing 245bhp of peak power and 370Nm of peak torque. The company claims the new edition to hit 0 to 100kmph in 6.6 seconds and top speed at 250km/h.
In the Indian market, the standard Skoda Octavia RS is remarkably popular. Although, the global variant is a more feature-packed variant. The company has produced 300 units of Octavia RS in India which was sold out shortly. It was launched at a price tag of Rs 24.62 lakh (ex-showroom). After some time, they also imported more 200 units which were also sold. The company have not revealed any plans of introducing the special edition in the country anytime soon. However, we expect Skoda to bring the model again in future.
