Hyundai has officially revealed features of upcoming Santro today through some pictures. The new hatchback codenamed AH2 is all set to go on sale on 23rd of October. Online bookings commence tomorrow. First 50,000 customers can book the car with token amount of Rs 11,100.
Santro was launched 20 years back with the tall body design. It immediately became one of the hot selling cars from Hyundai. Selling almost 1.86 million units. Carrying the same tall boy stance with bigger dimensions and much more fluid lines thanks to Hyundai’s fluidic design. Furthermore Hyundai claims Santro has been specifically tailor-made for India. With some unique features for India.
High strength steel is used in 63% of the chassis. And rest is mild steel. Hyundai claims it increases static and dynamic stiffness. Further improving cabin noise.
We have seen various spy shots of the Santro. Hyundai said that it has done extensive testing of the new Santro all over India. Covering Total Distance of 7,750 km and 14 states. Reaching a high altitude of 2,084m with a max speed of 150 kph.
Coming to the inside Santro features new dashboard and infotainment system. A 17.64cm (7-inch) Touchscreen unit with Mirror link, Apple CarPlay, and Andriod auto. Hyundai also has a new iBlue remote App to control the system with your smartphone. Along with voice recognition. Champagne gold inserts at AC vents and centre fascia to make the car look more premium. Dual tone beige & black interiors.
The Ac on the Santro gets a 135cc compressor with Eco coating. Santro also gets first in the segment rear AC vents. Hyundai has done some work in the rear comfort of the Santro. With enhanced thigh support, increased back support bolster making it comfortable to seat 3 people. Suspension gets vertically placed Shock Absorber to minimize shock rebound and provide comfortable ride quality. A bump stopper to reduce body roll.
Powering the car will be a peppy 1.1 Litre four-cylinder petrol churning out 69ps at 5,500rpm with 10.1kgm of torque at 4,500 rpm. Hyundai claims fuel efficiency of 20.3kmpl. Mated to a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. It will be the first car to feature AMT from Hyundai’s stable. Hyundai is also giving CNG as an option. The power will be down by 10ps and 8.6kgm torque. But the efficiency is increased to 30.5 km/kg. A dual ECU for better performance and efficiency.
To go on sale on 23rd October Santro will definitely bring heat to its competitors. It will compete against cars like Renault Kwid, Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Datsun RediGo, and the Tata Tiago.
