Today, Tata Motors has rolled out its 5,00,000 th passenger vehicle from the manufacturer’s Sanand plant located in Gujarat. The 5,00,000 th vehicle is the Tata Tigor sedan facelift offered in an Egyptian blue colour scheme. The facelifted model of the Tata Tigor Sedan was introduced earlier this month. The Sanand plant in Gujarat spreads over 1,100 acres of land and has produces 1,54,000 units every year. The Sanand plant of the Tata motors is now running at 100 percent capacity utilization and has achieved this feat in August, 2018. Moreover, the Tata motors had earlier confirmed that they are working on to achieve 5,00,000th production milestone in October, 2018.
The Sanand factory began their operations back in June, 2010. The Tata Nano, Tata Tiago hatchback is also manufactured at the Sanand plant along with the Tata Tigor sedan. Besides that, the company’s factory also produces the 1.05 litre Revotorq, the 1.2 litre Revotron, 624 cc two cylinder petrol motor and a naturally aspirated 1.2 litre petrol engine. Currently, the Tata’s Sanand plant contributes to the 60 percent of the Tata Motors’ total passenger vehicle production.
Commenting on the production milestone, Mayank Pareek, president, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors said, “We, at Tata Motors, have been working aggressively towards our core strategy of Turnaround 2.0, aiming to ‘Win sustainably in PVs’. A lean manufacturing process plays a key role in our growth strategy enabling the Sanand plant to contribute around 60 per cent of the overall PV production. We are extremely proud of achieving this milestone within our planned timeline. This is the result of the hard work put in by our dedicated workforce. The plant has evolved to become a modern, state-of-the-art facility and is playing a pivotal role in meeting the aspirations of Tiago and Tigor customers.”

From being a single-model plant, Sanand has grown into a multi-model plant and is on a roll since the introduction of the Tiago.
