Royal Enfield’s global president, Rudratej Singh has quit from his position with immediate effect. This has been confirmed by the Chennai based motorcycle manufacturer. The statement from Royal Enfield reads, “Rudratej Singh (Rudy) has decided to pursue opportunities outside of Royal Enfield owing to personal commitments. With this decision, Rudy will cease to be the official media spokesperson for Royal Enfield with immediate effect.”
Lalit Malik, CFO of Eicher Motors will also take up the role of chief commercial officer. Malik is an alumnus of IIM Bangalore and has been with Royal Enfield for 8 years. Malik is known for keeping a close watch on the operational efficiencies and improving cost structures within the company. He also exercises strict control over investments and profitability.
Shaji Koshy (head – business markets, India), Rod Copes (head – business markets, North America), Arun Gopal (head – business markets, Europe and LATAM), Vimal Sumbly (head – business markets, APAC), Rich Rawlins (head – motorcycle accessories), Puneet Sood (head – apparel) and Pankaj Sharma (head – customer experience) will all now report to Malik in his new role effective immediately.
Reliable sources inform that Siddarth Lal plans to oversee two functions – product strategy and industrial design, and brand and marketing. Mark Wells (head – product strategy and ID) and Shubhranshu Singh (head – global brands) will report to Lal directly.
Rudy’s time at Royal Enfield
Prior to his time at Royal Enfield, Rudy worked for Unilever in Singapore. Rudy joined RE in 2015. He was responsible for commercial business both in domestic and international markets, after sales, international sales, marketing, branding, and new product strategy
He was also instrumental in developing and launching the Himalayan, the company’s first ever adventure tourer. Rudy also played a major role in the development of the Royal Enfield Twins, the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650.
