The new bookings date for Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus has been revealed by Royal Enfield. Recently on 10th July at 2 pm Royal Enfield started the online bookings of the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus but the website crashed within a few minutes and the sales were cancelled. The reason for the crashing of the website is high demand for the limited edition bike. Now Royal Enfield has announced that the online bookings for this limited edition motorcycle will start sharp at 4 PM on 25th July, 2018.
Royal Enfield has limited the sales of the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus in India to 250 units. The motorcycle has been priced at Rs 2.49 lakh [ on road, Mumbai]. The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus will be globally available with two colour options – the olive green and service brown colour. In India only the brown colour will be on sale while the bottle green colour will be restricted to the army only.
Initially the company replied on twitter after the crashing of their website that the bookings will resume at 8:30 PM that day – 10th July, 2018. But the bookings were further deferred, which made the customers make angry tweets. To those tweets the company replied, “The Royal Enfield website is currently experiencing technical downtime. We are working on getting this back up very soon. Thank you.” Another tweet by Royal Enfield read, “Due to overwhelming response to the Pegasus online sale, we are facing unanticipated technical difficulties on our website. We’ll communicate the revised sale date shortly. Thank you for your continuous support.”
This limited edition Classic 500 Pegasus comes with blacked out headlamp bezel, rims and exhaust muffler. Besides that the motorcycle features a logo on the tank, military style canvas panniers with leather straps as well as brass buckles and a stencilled unique numbering on fuel tank. The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus is powered to the same air cooled, single cylinder, 499 cc engine. This engine churns out a power of 27.2 bhp and produces a peak torque of 41.2 Nm. A five speed gearbox comes paired to it. The brakes, chassis and tyres are same as the standard Classic 500 model, which had been launched earlier.
This limited edition bike is motivated by the RE/WD 125 Flying Flea motorcycle from World war II. Flying Flea was a ultra light weight motorcycle, weighing less than 60 kg. It was only manufactured for the British troops and the bikes could be airdropped through parachutes in the war fields. Therefore the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus will attract the vintage bike collectors and will occupy a position in their garage as well.
