Royal Enfield, one of the oldest motorcycle manufacturers had launched the limited edition Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus in country just yesterday, 25th July, 2018. The Indian buyers had put forward an overwhelming response to this new launch. Royal Enfield had allotted only 250 units of this limited edition bike in India. On 25th July, 2018 the online sales commenced sharp at 4 PM and within 178 seconds all the motorcycles were sold out. Therefore in India 250 units of the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus were sold out in less than 3 minutes.
The ex showroom [Maharashtra] price of the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus is Rs 2.49 lakh in the Indian market. Earlier the Royal Enfield had announced the sale of this limited edition bike on 10th July, 2018. But soon after the bookings started at 2 PM on 10th July,2018 the website crashed. Therefore the bookings were cancelled. Royal Enfield reported that high demand for the Classic 500 Pegasus edition had led to unanticipated technical difficulties, resulting in crashing of their website.
The motorcycle was sold on the basis of first come first serve. The lucky buyers of the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus were provided with military inspired canvas panniers, a Pegasus themed helmet and a T-shirt. The Royal Enfield 500 Classic Pegasus was launched globally with two colour schemes – service brown and olive drab green. In the Indian market the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus was launched with only the brown colour scheme as the olive green colour is restricted to the Indian Army. The design of the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus is inspired from the RE/WB 125 stroke bike that was used by the British army during World War II. The motorcycle was known as Flying Flea because of its ultra low weight of 60 kg. This motorcycle could be air drooped from parachute in the battle field.
The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus featured an unique black theme. A total of 1000 units of this limited edition bike was available globally. Out of the 1000 units, 190 units were launched in UK and India got only 250 units. The Royal Enfield Classic Pegasus is powered to the air cooled, single cylinder 499 cc engine, which delivers a power of 27.2 bhp and a peak torque of 41.2 Nm. A five speed gearbox gets paired to it.
