The two long awaited Royal Enfield 650 twins – Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 will launched in India in the month of November before Diwali, 2018. Royal Enfield is expecting huge sales of the Royal Enfield 650 twins and is thus the festive season appropriate time for the launch. Prior to India launch, the Royal Enfield 650 twins will be launched in the International markets in between 24th – 28th September, 2018.
When launched in the Indian markets the Royal Enfield 650 twins are likely to carry an ex showroom price tag ranging from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh. Therefore the 650 twins will be affordable and in India the Enfield 650twins will rival the Harley Davidson Street 750 which is on sale at Rs 6 lakhs. Currently, in the Indian markets 300 cc – 500 cc motorcycles like Bullet, Thunderbird and Classic are produced by Royal Enfield. With the launch of the 650 twins, Royal Enfield will make its entry in the mid weight bike segment.
The Royal Enfield 650 twins features 41 mm telescopic forks in the front and coil springs at the rear. Besides that the 650 twins comes with 320 mm disc at the front and 240 mm disc at the rear. Most importantly both the bikes come with the safety feature of standard ABS. The Royal Enfield 650 twins will be powered to the same air and oil cooled, fuel injected, parallel twin 648 cc engine. The engine churns out a maximum power of 47.7 PS at 7100 rpm and produces a peak torque of 52 Nm at 5250 rpm. A six speed transmission will come paired to the engine.
The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is a street oriented bike. The upcoming Interceptor 650 will get a ride height of 804 mm. The fuel tank capacity of the bike will be 13.7 litres and the bike has a kerb weight of 203 kgs. On the other hand the Royal Enfield Continental 650 GT is a cafe racer. The Continental 650 GT will have a ride height of 790 mm. The fuel tank capacith of this bike will be 12.5 litres and the weight stands out to be 199kgs.
