The mid-life refreshed version of the first-gen Renegade was launched by Jeep in 2018. Positioned just below the Jeep Compass both of them share a 4*4 small wide platform. The 2018 version of the facelifted Renegade was first unveiled at Turin Motor Show in Italy.
The Renegade will roll its wheel with power drawn from a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol motor producing 138 bhp and 200 Nm torque, and a 1.6-litre one, also available in Maruti S cross, makes 120 bhp power and 320 Nm torque, or 2.0-litre multijet diesel engine churning out 138 bhp. The front wheel and all wheel driven four wheeler, will come with transmission options, a six speed manual gearbox and a nine speed automatic one. The Jeep beauty will be manufactured at the FCA facility in Ranjangaon.
New front fascia, featuring new and larger grille in matte grey finish, new LED projector headlamps, fenders mounted white indicators instead of orange units and sculpted bumper with a larger central airdam are some of the exterior features of the automobile. It shares its headlight with the Jeep Wrangler. The vehicle has a modernized approach along with a traditional outlook. The dimensions of the SUV are, 4,230mm in length, 1,805mm in width and 1,690mm in height. The wheelbase is 2570 mm with a ground clearance around 200 mm. The boot space is 351 liters. The petrol engine gives a mileage of 14-15 kmpl and the diesel one gives 18-20 kmpl. It is more fuel efficient than the Compass.
Hyundai Creta and Tucson, SsangYong Tivoli, the upcoming Audi Q2 and the Volkswagen Tiguan are some of the rivals of the Jeep Renegade. The BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Mercedes Benz GLA can also be listed under probable competitors. The car might be priced somewhere around Rs 6 lakhs. The Snow, Auto, Sand and Mud are the four driving modes of the car, which can be changed according to selected terrain.
