The Kwid Facelift which is all set to make a debut in Europe the next year has been spied testing on the roads. The exterior cosmetic changes are negligible. The car was seen with partial camouflage on and very few changes have been noticed on it.
The Car is supposed to run on the current 800 cc engine producing 72 Bhp and 73 Nm. Another 1 liter model of the same is also expected to be launched alongside or later which will be capable of producing 67 Bhp and 91 Nm. A five speed manual gearbox and FWD are also offered with the same. An AMT is als optional for the 1 liter variant. Nissan’s CMF-A Platform is the base of the Renault Kwid. Revised front bumper, new set of fog lamps and also a refreshed rear bumper are quite evident from the spy images. The boot space also seems to have increased. The wheels of the automobile has been carried forward. New upholstery for seats along with new features like steering mounted controls, are some of the expected interior changes. The side profile has not received any noticeable change.
The car was initially launched three years back by the french Automaker, with a starting price of Rs. 2.67 lakhs. The car was initially the rivals of Datsun Go and Suzuki Alto. The Kwid is currently the Renault’s best seller in India, selling 5000 units this May. Its also on the seventeenth position of the top twenty largest selling cars in India. The release of the facelift will only increase its popularity as suggested by experts. Officially, two lakhs units of the car has been sold in the market. The facelift will be able to attract more young customers , that is the probable aim of the company.
