Renault has unwrapped the all-new K-ZE electric concept car at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. The event has just begun and we are getting to see the extreme innovation of the automotive world. The latest electric concept car is based on the Kwid and the electric version is called the Renault K-ZE concept. However, Renault has not yet disclosed the mechanical specs of the e-car. The company has declared a limit of 250kms in the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) for the production model. The launch is expected to be soon by next year.
The all-new K-ZE is produced by e-GT New Energy Automotive Co, which is a partnership between Dongfeng Motor Group (China) and Nissan. The reason it could be the affordable future EV is that it has been locally developed. The company has developed the electric hatchback with a dual charging system that will help it to get charged at commercial and standard local charging stations. The charging port of the car is placed on the front right cover. K-ZE is compact for Kwid Zero Emissions as it is fully electric without a combustion engine.
According to Carlos Ghosn, Chairman, and CEO of Groupe Renault, “Groupe Renault was a pioneer and is the European leader in electric vehicles. We are introducing Renault K-ZE, an affordable, urban, SUV-inspired electric model combining the best of Groupe Renault: our leadership in EV, our expertise in affordable vehicles and in forging strong partnerships.”
The design of the electric car or K-ZE can be identified as KWID. Although, there are many changes which look mesmerizing and clean compared to standard Kwid. It has received a modified front facia highlighting the dashing slim headlamps, a large grille, huge wheels, and a revamped rear. Being a new concept variant, these features will be included soon as it gets in the production series. Nevertheless, we cannot refuse that the revisions received by K-ZE are just fab and the new hatch now looks more dashing in the white-blue shade.
We have not got our hands inside the cabin, so it is completely sealed for now. Although, the automotive maker claims that the all-new K-ZE will come with some special advanced features including the ORVM, parking sensors and a new touchscreen display on the middle of the dash with navigation control. We think that the electrical concept will be much like the ongoing top-spec Kwid in terms of features. China will be the first country to get the electric Kwid. For now, the company has no plans to release it in India and the reason could be the lack of charging stations. Although, we expect the vehicle to come in the near future as it is a mid-range electric car.
