On 1st July, 2018 a resident of Chandigarh, Kamalkant had sent his defective Renault Duster for repair works to the authorised Renault RSA. From there the faulty four – wheeler was dragged to PMG Renault for fixing the problems. The dealers had claimed to deliver the car on 8th July. But, Kamalkant was busy then and he requested to hold on to his car in the service centre till 18th July. On 16th of July Kamalkant had received a call to take back his Renault Duster. Fortunately, he was unavailable on the stipulated date to take back his car from the service centre but he asserted to reach the very next day.

Kamalkant had been called up by the local police before his taking back his car from the service centre. The local police told him that his Renualt Duster was involved in an accident. In the accident a six years old boy was put to sleep and the driver had escaped from the accident spot. The police at once called Kamalkant to the police station since his car was involved in the accident. Kamalkant stated that his Renault Duster was retained in the service centre since 1st July, 2018 and then he directed the police towards the service centre. The Haryana police confiscated the Renault Duster involved in the accident and keep its possession until they complete the investigation.

Kamalkant has sent a mail to the Renault service centre asking for compensation for the child’s family and replacement of this Renault Dustur with another new one from the company at least till the police releases his vehicle. The Renault Support Team has expressed their regret for the accident that has occurred in reply to Kamalkant’s mail and Renault Support Team also stated that they could not adhere to his demands.

The Haryana police continuing with the investigation and Kamalkant, the owner of the Renault Duster had filed a FIR with the Haryana Police Citizens Service. The FIR has been accepted under Section 279 of IPC and 304[A] of IPC. The Policemen are going through the investigations and it is yet to know who was driving the Renault Duster when the accident occurred and what punishments will be imposed upon him and what compensations are to be allotted for the child’s family.
