Renault: Previous reports state that French automotive manufacturer, Renault is developing a 7 seater MPV concept based on Kwid. Finally, we have got the first spy sorts of the latest model under-progress. The new MPV is called RBC for the Indian market. As per latest reports, the upcoming vehicle has been detected in Tamil Nadu, near Renault Nissan Alliance factory at Oragadam, Chennai. After releasing the Lodgy, the company is expected to soon launch the new model. Although, the concept of Lodgy didn’t excel in the Indian automotive market in terms of sales. However, the company will add a new car in Lodgy range by next year.
The latest model will be produced on the CMF-A+ principles, which is a beginning of the Kwid’s CMF-A bases. Visually, the upcoming model will be inspired by the Kwid’s layout which was introduced with a traditional sleek company’s grille including bumper installed LED DRLs. The car will highlight a massive front grille, all-new headlamps, a wider bumper and thickset tires which makes it different from previous variants. The design was not completely visible in the spied pictures as it’s highly covered, but we still see some exterior highlights.
The new variant is said to be similar to Kwid, but it will come with many other modifications to differ from Kwid. The headlamps are wider, narrowing while running through the grille, which gives a sportier look. In the pictures, the vehicle also grabbed attention at the side section which is simple and extended. It comes with the plain windscreen at the rear. As said earlier, the interior features are not yet revealed, but some previous reports reveal few details.
The car could be outfitted with an air-con vents and all-new touchscreen infotainment system on the dash. The dash will be completely renovated with many remarkable features. The company could also provide some additional features only on offer including rear wash/wipe set-up and LED DRLs. The vehicle is also expected to be launch with all required safety features like twin airbags, ABS and rear parking sensors to satisfy upcoming safety norms supposed to come on impact by October 2019.
The upcoming Renault MPV is expected to be equipped with an improved Kwid’s BR10 1.0-litre petrol motor featuring a turbocharger which will offer great performance in the mid-range variant. Although, we will not get a diesel engine option for the latest model and the reason is that Renaut doesn’t own diesel motor for small cars. The small variant is expected to be priced between INR 4.2 to 6.2 lakhs, ex-showroom. It will rival against Maruti Suzuki Ertiga after next year launch.
