The Royal Enfield 650 twins – Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 are scheduled to launch in the Indian auto markets in the month of November, 2018. Two dealerships have confirmed about the launch of the Royal Enfield 650 twins in India. However, the official statement for the launch is yet to be declared. Previously the RE 650 twins were launched in the United States. The Interceptor 650 is priced at 5,999 while the Continental GT 650 is priced at 5,799 in the US markets. In the Indian auto markets, the RE 650 twins are likely to be priced below Rs 3 lakh. At this afforable range, the RE 650 twins are likely to attract the buyers.

The Interceptor 650 comes with a circular headlamp, round tear drop fuel tank, single piece fenders and a single seat. Both the bikes sits on 18 inch alloy wheels, which are wrapped by the grippy Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tyres. Powering the RE 650 twins is an oil cooled, parallel twin cylinder, eight valve 648 cc engine, which churns out a maximum power of 47 bhp at 7100 rpm and produces a peak torque of 52 Nm at 5200 rpm. A six speed transmission with a slipper clutch comes paired to the engine.

Braking duties are handled by a single 320 mm disc at the front and 240 mm disc at the rear. Both the RE 650 twins come equipped with dual channel ABS as standard. The Interceptor 650 can attain a maximum speed of 160 kmph. The fuel tank capacity of the Interceptor 650 is 13.7 litres while the fuel tank capacity of the continental 650 is 12.5 litres. Suspension duties are handled by the telescopic forks up front and twin shock absorbers at the rear.

Currently, Royal Enfield retails 300 cc to 500 cc single cylinder motorcycles. However, with the introduction of the RE 650 twins – the Interceptor 650 and the Continental 650, Royal Enfield will enter the new segment of big bike. In terms of pricing, the RE 650 twins will have no competitors. However, in the 650 cc to 750 cc displacement segment, the Royal Enfield 650 twins will compete on the likes of the Kawasaki Vulcan S and the Harley Davidson Street 750.
