Dual Channel ABS introduced in Yamaha YZF-R15 Version 3.0

R15 Version 3.0 Darknight

With the mandatory ABS rule for 2 wheelers becoming effective from 1st April 2019, a lot of manufacturers are now offering either a single channel or a Dual Channel ABS. India Yamaha Motor is the latest to join the bandwagon. The bike maker has started with its hot cake,  the R15 V3.0. The R15 version 3.0 is the first bike in the 150 CC category to flaunt the Dual channel ABS. Priced at INR 139,000, the ABS version comes at a premium of INR 12,000 over the non-ABS variant.

The Darknight Arrives

With the addition of ABS, Yamaha has also introduced a new paint scheme, the Darknight to the R15 Version 3.0. The Darknight variant is priced at INR 141,000. It is essentially a Matt black scheme that Yamaha offers in its other bikes such as FZ, Ray ZR, and Saluto RX. Other than the addition of ABS and a new paint scheme, the bike remains the same mechanically. It is powered by a 155 CC, engine that produces 19.3hp at 10,000rpm and 15Nm of torque at 8,500rpm. The engine comes in a SOHC, four value configuration and is liquid cooled. The motor is mated to a six-speed transmission.

The R15 Version 3.0 is the first 150 CC bike to carry segment first features such as Variable valve actuation, and assist and slipper clutch.
