As 2018 winds to an end, Porsche showcases their top 5 fastest street legal cars made till date in their top five series. The list is in the order of the top speeds of the cars. This list does not include track only cars.
5. Porsche 911 Turbo S
In the fifth position is the Porsche 911 Turbo S. Being in the last place does not mean this is a slow car. It packs a 3.8-liter flat six engine churning out 580bhp and 700Nm torque. This car accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in just 2.9 seconds. It has a claimed top speed of 330kmph.
4. Porsche Carrera GT
The fourth position goes to one of the most famous Porsche ever built – the Carrera GT. Launched first 15 years ago, this car runs on a massive 5.7-liter V10 engine. This motor is capable of producing 612hp and 590Nm torque. It can reach top speeds of up to 334kmph and also can propel from 0 to 100kmph in 3.9 seconds. Porsche advertises it as pure racing tech made for the road.
3. Porsche 959
The third place goes to a rather unusual car. The 959 is a 30-year-old car from Porsche’s stables. This car from the mid-1980s is still impressive even by today’s standards. It runs on a 2.8-liter flat six engine producing up to 515hp and 560Nm torque. This enables the car to reach speeds of 334kmph. This was one of the fastest cars ever back then. Also, Porsche made only 29 units of the S version, each with different engine output as per the customer’s desire.
2. Porsche 911 GT2 RS
The fourth position goes to the 911 GT2 RS, the two-time record holder in the Nordschleife. The 3.8-liter flat six engine can output a whopping 700hp and 750Nm torque. It does 0 to 100kmph in just 2.8 seconds and also has a top speed of 340kmph.
1. Porsche 918 Spyder
The fastest road-legal car title goes to the Porsche 918 Spyder. The most recent car in this list can reach a top speed of 345kmph. The combined output of the 4.6-liter V8 engine and also an electric motor stands at 887hp and a staggering 1,280Nm torque. This allows the car to reach 100kmph from standstill in just 2.8 sec.
