We always hear the manufacturer talking about how fast the vehicle goes? What they have done to get that extra top speed or acceleration. Speed or Performance is one of the factors for people to buy when they look to buy any vehicle. But what if a manufacturer is focusing on slow speed? Slow speed Electric scooter?
Well, Okinawa has just done that with the R 30 which they call as Slow speed EV. But why? To solve the purpose of daily errand runs like shopping, going to school, tuitions, etc. To make it safer to ride, and accessible to women and children. To make the EV more accessible. With a maximum speed of 25 kmph it is a safe bet for school going kids.
Powering the R 30 is a 250-watt BLDC waterproof motor that makes 250 watts of peak power. 60km range is sufficient enough for daily runs. A small 1.25 kWh lithium-ion battery propels the motor, it is also detachable for the convenience of charging just the battery at home. Otherwise, you can charge the scooter with a 5 Amp common house socket. The battery takes 4-5 hours to fully charge.
The scooter also looks decent with indicators up top and low slung headlamp assembly. You also get aluminum alloy wheels. The scooter also features E-ABS (Electronic- Assisted Braking System) with regenerative energy. You can choose from 5 colors – Pearl White, Sea Green, Sunrise Yellow, Glossy Red, Metallic Orange.
Priced at Rs 58,992 (ex-showroom), it can be a good option for people and kids who just need a safe vehicle for local runs and not worrying about filling petrol. So rather than spending all way up to Ather or Okinawa bigger scooters, you can save some money and get the R 30. It will come with a 3-year warranty for both battery and motor.
