Nissan has finally unwarped the all-new Kicks in India. The automotive maker has already raised the excitement of the fans earlier by releasing teasers and now the full exterior. So, this was the good news, but the sad part is that the interior is still a secret. The company claimed that the cabin will be revealed later. The SUV will be launched in India next year. The India-spec Kicks SUV is not changed thoroughly in terms of designing.
Although, the model is remarkably distinguished from the global variant, which is already on sale. The new Kicks is developed in a B0 platform while the global variant is based on the company’s V platform. In terms of designing, the SUV is updated from the front fascia with minor cosmetic updates in the rear. It is designed with an all-new front bumper which gives a bold and striking look to the vehicle compared to the global version.
At the front, the Knicks also gets faux air channels over the fog lights and a skid plate with aluminium polish. The new additions make the SUV appear more stylish and attractive. It is integrated with the latest LED headlights highlighting LED projectors and boomerang formed LED DRL’s which reflects the Nissan’s DNA. The innovative honeycomb-like grille is bounded by the company’s traditional ‘V-motion’ chrome line.
The Indian version Kicks is also larger and wider than the global model. Overall, the stylish SUV is 4384 mm longer, 1813 mm wider, and 1656 mm higher. It has got a wheelbase and a ground clearance of 2673 mm and 200 mm, respectively. It is outfitted with new 17-inch Apollo machine-cut alloy wheels which are covered with reliable 215/60-section rubber.
Like the global variant, the India-specs variant also features husky wheel curves, sturdy shoulder line, all-black pillars and the orange finished floating roof as well with noticeable roof rails. The rear bumper is also modernized with few tweaks only. The position of the fuel tank lid is changed in the Indian variant. The rear section is integrated with all-new LED taillamps, reworked tailgate, and a husky rear bumper including a diffuser.
The interior features are not revealed officially, but previous reports rumours state that it could come with a new 8.0-inch ‘floating’ touchscreen infotainment system that will support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It can also feature automatic climate control and high-level security features. The company has earlier claimed that the new Kicks will come with a spacious cabin with more passenger legroom. The India-specs model will have distinctive cabin elements compared to the global variant.
The new Kicks is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine which can generate 110PS/245Nm figures and the 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder 106PS/142Nm petrol engine also on offer. The diesel unit can be combined with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT, and the petrol unit could be introduced with a 5-speed manual or a CVT. It is expected to be priced between Rs 9.4 lakh to 15 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival against the likes of Hyundai Creta.
