Nissan Motor India has launched the Kicks SUV today. The Kicks is a D segment SUV and rivals the Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and Renault Duster. It is priced from INR 9.55 Lakhs for the base petrol variant, the XL (ex-showroom). The top of the line diesel XV Premium + variant will cost you 14.65 lakhs. The Nissan Kicks is based on the B0 Platform. This very platform underpins the Renault Captur and the Renault Duster in India.
In a first for a car manufacturer in India, the Kicks comes with a subscription option which is available across all variants and colour options. With the “Intelligent choice of ownership”, one can drive home the Nissan Kicks with zero down payment. The Monthly subscription fee includes insurance, maintenance and 24/7 Roadside assistance.
The Kicks comes with a 3-year warranty, 3-year 24/7 roadside assistance and a 3-year maintenance package and is offered free of cost for the 1st 10,000 Kicks customers.
On the outside, the Nissan Kicks SUV sports the V grille with a thick chrome treatment, sweptback headlamps with LED projector setup, front & rear fog lamps, a functional roof rail, and LED tail lamps. Other goodies include automatic wipers and headlamps, cruise control for that relaxed driving, cornering fog lights, electrically adjustable wing mirrors with blinkers and an ECO mode. The Kicks sits on those beautiful looking 17-inch alloy wheels.
Oh, and did we mention that Nissan is offering a first in the segment, 360-degree camera called Around View Monitor Display (AVM), which can be viewed on 8-inch infotainment screen?
You are treated with the brown-black leather upholstery on the inside. The dual tone dashboard looks premium. The instrument cluster has analogue dials for speedometer, fuel gauge and other digital tell-tale lights. The speedometer is a digital unit and is located at the centre. The centre console has a first-in-class 8 inch A-IVI floating touchscreen that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
There’s also carbon fibre finish around the infotainment system. Door trims and dashboard are wrapped with leather to complement the overall premium feel. Other interior comforts include powered windows, steering column mounted audio controls, automatic climate control, USB charging ports. The automatic climate control and NissanConnect is standard across all variants.
At 4384mm, the Nissan Kicks is longer than its cousins, the Duster and the Captur. It is 1813mm wide and 1656 mm tall (taller than the Captur). The wheelbase is 2673 mm. the boot volume is 400 litres and the 50-litre fuel tank ensures you have a good range between fillups. The ground clearance too, is a healthy 210mm. The turning radius is 5.2m.
Standard safety equipment includes the dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist. Other safety equipment includes vehicle dynamic control and hill start assist.
The Nissan Kicks is powered by 1.5L H4K petrol engine (106 PS @ 5600 RPM/142 Nm @ 4000 RPM ). The petrol engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Diesel engine is a 1.5L K9K dCi Diesel engine (110 PS @ 3850 RPM/240 Nm @ 1750 RPM). It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. These are tried and tested engines and have been doing their duties on the Renault Duster and Renault Captur.
Variants and Colors
The Kicks Diesel will be available in four variants i.e., XL, XV, XV Premium and XV Premium+, while the Kicks petrol will be available in two variants, the XL and the XV. Seven paint options are on offer viz., Amber Orange, Blade Silver, Bronze Grey, Deep Blue Pearl, Night Shade, Pearl White, and Fire Red. The dual tone paint options for the top-spec trim are Pearl White and Amber Orange, Pearl White and Onyx Black, Bronze Grey and Amber Orange, and Fire Red and Onyx Black.
The Nissan Kicks can also be customized with 27 different categories of accessories, each tailor-made as per customer needs. They custom accessories come with a warranty of 1 year or 20,000 km whichever is earlier.
